New Law for Large Family Child Care (Public Act 25-82)

Effective July 1, 2025, a new law (Public Act 25-82) allows the Office of Early Childhood (OEC) to issue a “large family child care endorsement.”
This endorsement will permit eligible family child care providers to care for up to 12 children, including their own children, provided they have adequate staffing.

Eligibility: OEC will issue this endorsement to 30 currently licensed providers in each of the next 4 fiscal years

Expiration: Endorsements will expire on June 30, 2029

Application process: Providers licensed before June 30, 2025, will be notified about the application process once it becomes available
OEC is working on implementation of this new law.
