Roles
You can gain OEC approval for two roles supporting early care and education programs by applying through your Registry account.
- An OEC-approved education consultant who supports OEC licensed centers and group homes. Learn more about education consultants.
- An OEC-approved trainer who can lead OEC approved trainings where participants may receive hours recorded in their Registry record.

What is ProTraxx?
ProTraxx is an online system for training registration, attendance, and completion records. Participants create an account and register for events through the OEC catalog of professional learning opportunities and/or through the catalogs of other professional development agencies. OEC Approved Trainers who are approved to deliver OEC approved trainings will work with a ProTraxx coordinator to learn parts of the system needed to for training logistics.

What are the OEC approved trainings?
The OEC approved trainings developed by OEC and/or developed by a national organization or an entity under contract with OEC. The most active approved trainings are associated with the CT ELDS, CT DOTS, Pyramid Model, and Accreditation Supports.
How do I get trained in one or more of the approved trainings?
The OEC will be offering trainer of training sessions for individuals who are already approved as OEC Trainers. Notifications will be sent to OEC approved trainers.
I don’t feel I am ready, or I don’t yet meet the requirements. Is there a way to gain some experience in training?
There may be opportunities for you to work alongside a mentor who has training experience. You can seek a mentor on your own and/or watch for announcements about mentoring opportunities with some of our OEC approved trainers.
Where can I find an OEC-Approved Trainer?
To look up an OEC Trainer or an OEC Approved Licensing Ed Consultant:
- Log into your personal Registry account
- Select “My Role Applications”
- Select “About Technical Assistance Providers”
- Click on “Search for a Technical Assistance Provider”

What if I have a degree but need some early childhood credits?

Can I get paid to deliver OEC trainings?
Yes, you can seek payment from the providers you are training. Be upfront about your costs and show your approval certificate found in your Registry record as proof you are approved.
Can I advertise that I am an OEC Approved Trainer?
You are not an employee of the Office of Early Childhood. If you advertise you are an OEC Approved Trainer, you must maintain your approval status at all times. Your approval certificate is your responsibility to maintain and be made available to providers seeking your services.
How do I connect with other OEC-approved trainers?
OEC is contracting with CT AEYC and EASTCONN to provide a variety of networking opportunities to learn from each other and to keep current with the use of ProTraxx.
Where can I find materials or resources to stay up to date on the trainings?
As the OEC continues to develop the training system, you will see announcements regarding ways to access resources for your work and continued learning.
Do I renew my OEC Approved Trainer status each year?
Yes, each year around November/December you will receive an automated email from the Registry saying it is time to renew your trainer approval status that will expire every December 31st. You would log into ProTraxx and take the OEC Technical Assistance Provider Annual Review course each year AND log into your Registry account and renew your application. If you do not renew your application each year, you will not be able to conduct OEC approved training nor advertise you are an OEC Approved Trainer.
