Child Care Referral Support for Teachers and Board of Education Employees

Last updated July 31, 2020

Are you a teacher or board of education employee who needs child care in order to return to work this fall? The Office of Early Childhood (OEC) and United Way of Connecticut have announced a new initiative that will help.

OEC and United Way of Connecticut have established an enhanced child care referral protocol that will ensure teachers and board of education staff have priority access to finding available child care in their area. We want to be sure that access to child care is not a barrier for board of education staff who need to return to work.

If you’re a board of education employee who needs help finding child care, call the dedicated phone number: 860-756-0864.

The line is activated and United Way staff are currently standing by. When you call, staff will help you identify and connect with a child care provider and refer you to an open program, if available. You can also ask staff to contact providers on your behalf to confirm vacancies and help secure a spot for your child.

Please note that we are not paying for child care as part of this program.
