Need an OEC required background check? Always use BCIS
If you need a OEC required background check, you must use OEC’s background check information system (BCIS). It’s an online tool that streamlines the process and provides you with required information like:
- Updated Connecticut Criminal History Request System (CCHRS) service codes
- FBI Privacy consent documentation
Without the updated codes and consent forms — only available through BCIS — your fingerprints will be delayed and OEC will be unable to process your background check.
Can I get an OEC required background check without using BCIS?
No — using BCIS is the only way to complete an OEC required background check.
OEC discovered that some people and providers are using outdated and expired CCHRS service codes. An updated CCHRS service code provided by BCIS is the only way to successfully have fingerprints taken. If an expired CCHRS service code is used or a background check is started without first registering for a BCIS account, OEC cannot process the background check.
