New requirements for background check fingerprinting
Last updated September 30, 2024
Effective September 30, 2024, every person will need to provide documentation showing that they have electronically signed consent forms before getting fingerprinted.
This is a federal requirement.
What’s required?
When you enter information in BCIS, you are prompted to sign these forms electronically.
Once you’ve finished the BCIS process, you need to keep a record that you signed the FBI Privacy Consent. This record could be:
- Your BCIS ID Card, which will note that you signed the documents (see example)
- Print-out of the signed consent forms
- Screenshots (or pictures) of the signed forms
When you go to have your fingerprints taken, you must provide this documentation.
